While planning our trip to NYC, we realized that we didn't have any proper photos of ourselves together. So like good business ladies, we checked with all our favorite boss babes to see if we could find a photographer willing to capture our lovely faces. Enter Kate Thompson of Betty Clicker Photography! Though a Richmonder like me (Carly), Kate was going to be visiting NYC the same weekend as us and agreed to meet us at the most radical place in the city: Bluestockings! Bluestockings is a 100% volunteer-powered and collectively-owned radical bookstore, fair trade cafe, and activist center and they stock some of the most beautiful, inspiring magazines (including Got a Girl Crush).
Kate did an amazing job of keeping us from feeling too weird and awkward in front of the camera (I'm a photographer myself, 99% because I hate being photographed). We looked at books on topics from prison reform to ecofeminism and magazines and zines from around the country. An oasis in the Lower East Side, Bluestockings was so warm and cozy and full of radical energy — we can't wait to go back! Thanks so much Kate!
