What is Meera Graham Photography's mission?

To love the sh*t out of you, to love every part of your journey (the parts filled with joy AND the hard parts), to help you lean in to the things that make meaning for you...and to make photos that feel like something.

What is Meera Graham Photography's Origin Story?

Whew. It's complicated. I moved from a warehouse management job, to professional musical theatre....to photography!!! I guess the thread is that I love the human story. I really, really believe that when you connect with someone, truthfully, lovingly, when you tell their story from a place of caring, you give the most powerful gift there is.

What is one of your favorite projects you've ever worked on?

Oh, crap. I can't give you just one.

How are you a "wedding space disrupter”?

Look around my site. I'm working to blow through the notion of the scripted wedding that looks pretty on Pinterest but betrays the story underneath. Try and draw a thread between the couples I work with, and it's hard to do, because that thread isn't visible and my couples look SO different on paper - across race, sexuality, ethnicity, religion, gender expression, class, lifestyle. It's this intangible thing - that my couples are all ludicrously kind, hilariously quirky, authentic, honest, fierce, quick to joy. And those intangibles come in every shape, size and form because it's a soul thing.

I don't pose couples - I spend hours with you, using a technique to draw out your real personalities. Why? Because "posing" is too often grounded in hetero-normative wedding imagery, and I hate everything about it. Also - frankly - I find posing to be awkward and stupid. You already know how to be with each other. You know how to hold each other, and love each other, and look at each other and BE with each other. So my job is to give you space for that to emerge, not force you to do things on demand that don't feel natural.

What three ingredients are necessary for a great day at Meera Graham Photography?

Trust, laughter, joy

What are some traits of your ideal client?

My couples are all insanely kind, authentic, honest, fierce, quick to joy. You're best friends with each other. You're unafraid to say you love each other. You're unafraid of someone else loving on you. (Namely...me). You have AMAZING senses of humor (which is good, because I will say some weird shit at the weirdest times, GET READY!). And you care so much more about being good life partners than you do about a "perfect" wedding - in fact, being in the center of it all stresses you out a little, because YOU'RE usually taking care of everyone else. You want photos that feel like memories and moments. BOOM.

What Past Clients Have To Say:

"Meera...MEERA!!! These are absolutely stunning, and you truly captured...us :) the joy of the day, the warmth of our family and friends, all of it. I can't help but think about how we'll be looking at these very same photos when we're old and gray and we will remember not just this happiest day of our lives but the spirit of that day, because you managed to see that and capture it for us. I am eternally grateful, we both are. I can't stop going through them one by one, loving each special moment, even the tiniest details. And truly the part, which I will never ever forget...was how YOU more than anyone else that day made me feel peaceful, free to think only of our love and helped me be able to be in the moment. And we truly were, we could experience and take in as much as possible. These days with cell phones and constantly striving for the next and documenting the now...we didn't need to. Your presence made me feel light and free. I can't thank you enough for all you've given us. From the bottom of my heart, both of our hearts, we thank you!!!!"

It took me a long time to learn how to let myself just show up and be seen, as I am, for who I am. There is so much effing power in being seen - REALLY seen, exactly as you are. That is the single thing that drives everything I do as a photographer.
