I grew up with a camera in-hand — and for a someone growing up in the 90s, that didn’t just mean pulling my phone out of my pocket. By 2004, my love for snapping pics developed into a passion for photography. It wasn’t just a hobby for me, but a lifestyle. I launched my own business and found an immediate home in wedding photography.
For the past 15 years, I’ve had the opportunity to capture couples swapping “I dos” and tying the knot. But there’s something else I search for through the viewfinder: details — simple nuances of family relationships, decades of friendship, and the intimate exchange of emotions through every moment of the big day.
I've been honored to receive the "Best of Weddings" award from The Knot for several years in a row, and have been published many times in a variety of online and print wedding magazines.
Not to toot my own horn, but my work was even featured on CBS's Inside Edition — it was an incredible Brooklyn wedding during a complete downpour. The images ended up being published worldwide. (Toot, toot)
Aside from the aisle, I swap my camera for gardening tools in my “off hours.” In my tiny Queens apartment, I’m cultivating an indoor jungle of 41 plants, and counting. The greenery brings some life to those grey, northeastern winters.
A few other creatures close to my heart are my husky-shepherd mix, Mastodon, who I adopted 12 years ago, and my cat Buster, who definitely prefers my husband. (For now. I’m upping the cat treats to bribe my way to the favorite.)
I'm passionate about social justice, body positivity, and erasing the stigma around mental healthcare. I'm also a brain aneurysm survivor, so I work to raise awareness around the topic.
How do you approach weddings?
I aim to create a stress-free experience for each couple so the focus can stay on the big day. To do that, I go ghost. I work to be almost totally invisible as I capture not just visuals but feelings within each frame of my camera. I take a heart-first approach to every ceremony so you can relive the day for years to come.
What are some traits of your ideal clients?
As an artist, I take special interest in the couples who instill a sense of themselves in their weddings. Maybe they forego tradition for special interests. Maybe they reflect their feminist values or throw a completely sustainable ceremony with little-to-no waste. I love a couple who’s more concerned with the experience than the color of the napkins.
What are three of your favorite things?
My husband, our pets, and my plants rank in my top 3, but I also love warm, sunny days, a solid Netflix binge, and will never say no to a matcha latte.
What Past Clients Have To Say:
"Kamila is AMAZING. My husband and I are both artists -- a filmmaker and a designer/photographer. We are picky and finicky and spent hours and hours looking for the right photographer. Kamila blew us away. I can't believe what our photos look like, and her manner was just so lovely. I am so so grateful we found her, blown away by the photos, and so happy we have such a beautiful album to treasure forever. She has real skill."
