Meet Nathan Mitchell
Nathan is the total package - an artist with a photojournalist's skill, a documentarian's creativity, and an editorialist's eye. He knows exactly where to be and when, and is consistently experimenting and pushing himself to create better art. Every wedding he delivers is a menagerie of color, creative composition, and important moments all captured beautifully, to be looked at and cherished for decades to come. He also enjoys long walks on the beach, and a good book.
How does Nathan approach weddings?
I meet with couples before booking to talk about their wedding and get to know them and their unique relationship, and then typically do an engagement session to get to know each other even better. I intuitively try to understand what makes each and every couple special so that I can highlight the unique aspects of their relationship on the wedding day. After all, the wedding is a reflection of the couple's love for each other as well as their community that surrounds them, and I try very hard to incorporate that into the images. I work hard to craft a narrative in the images as a total package, but I also try to include a lot of information in each image, letting every shot tell its own story. I want every image to pop, to induce memories of the day, and to be beautiful and engaging.
What are some traits of your ideal clients?
My ideal couple is someone who loves each other and loves their community, who appreciates photography as an artform--on any level. My ideal couple trusts me to be a solid foundation to the wedding, knowing I'll be where I need to be when I need to be there. My ideal couple is a yes-and attitude to life, open to creative suggestions and willing to come along for a really fun ride.
What are some of your favorite things?
I am a musician, I play bass and guitar and I sing! I'm also a gamer that loves a good fantasy RPG as well as a space or flight simulator--you should see my computer!! My perfect day is one where I'm creating something new--working on photos, writing music, and hanging out with my wife and my daughter. Nothing could be better than spending time with them!
