While many couples get lost in the minutiae of seating charts, the number of flowers in each centerpiece, and other such details for the so-called "perfect" wedding, Sharon and Michelle's intent was much different: to this couple, the perfect wedding was a day of mindfulness and love.
Google defines mindfulness as "a mental state achieved by focusing one's awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one's feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations."
For Sharon and Michelle, this meant a quiet and relaxing morning getting ready together, with the exception of the final moment of putting on their wedding clothes. Even then, only a door separated them, and they rejoined shortly after in a beautiful first look. Their ceremony and reception surrounded them with loved ones who had supported them on their journey of love, which started many years ago as best friends.
The result was a beautiful wedding celebration, in which two people savored every bit of "now" as they promised to love one another forever.
