In the Spring of 2015, Robbie and I were shopping to become first time home buyers. Little did I know, as we were shopping for a home, Robbie was out shopping for the perfect, antique engagement ring. He proposed on our closing day, surrounded by friends who were ready to celebrate with champagne! Over the next year, we agonized of plans for the perfect wedding day and honeymoon. Every detail was planned out perfectly, until the craziness of the day before our wedding began.
The day began as any other "day before" a wedding day. We spent the morning running around, trying to finish up all last minute details. That afternoon, I was headed to our suite to prepare things for the girls the next day, and Robbie went out with the guys to the trampoline park. This was to be the last time we'd see each other before the wedding day. I joked, "don't break an arm!" A few hours later, I get a call from Robbie that something had gone wrong. I rushed to the ER to find the doctor telling him that he had torn both of his patellar tendons in a freak accident and that he had to have emergency surgery. We were both scared, but knew the show must go on. As Robbie was recovering from his surgery, I went to our rehearsal and spread the news. Minus rescheduling the honeymoon, things continued as planned, with the addition of the groom's wheelchair.
It was a crazy whirlwind of a day, but through the support that we were given from family and friends and the love that we shared for each other, we learned that love really does conquer all. We also quickly learned the meaning of "in sickness and in health" and know that we are there for each other no matter what our lives throw at us and are so ready to celebrate our honeymoon (a year late) in April of 2017!
