Wedding Inspiration // Same-Sex Mid-Century Modern Wedding

We put this feature together with the idea of mixing modern and mid-century modern for fun and unique wedding inspiration. The two grooms are a real couple that the photographer had met previously, and they made for the perfect models. Their pup even came to the shoot as a surprise guest and ended up being a hit.

We worked in a gorgeous historic space, Fawn Street Studios in Norfolk, and we used the old architecture, rooftop, and stunning interior decor as backdrops for some phenomenal portraits.

We wanted to showcase some fantastic attire for these two handsome men, and we wanted to be sure that they coordinated without matching. By mixing the burgundy tux with a classic black, they each got to showcase their personalities in a way that would feel suitable for them.

In the end, it truly was all about the details—finding ways to mix black, gold, burgundy, and mustard with mid-century inspired shapes (like the beautiful sweetheart table and chairs that they sat at!). The invitation suite was beautifully designed by PaperDolls Design, Inc. to reflect that, and the rentals from Mad Hatter Vintage Rentals put it all into perspective.

Mike from Dragon Photography Studio says: The greatest compliment I often receive from clients is how easy their session was and how comfortable they felt in front of the camera. Being photographed is very personal and I excel at putting clients at ease even when they do not like having their picture taken. During weddings and events I am often asked if I am a family friend of my clients because I take the time to build relationships and fit seamlessly into their special occasions.
