Kris is a high school science teacher and football and track and field coach. He's passionate about food, exercise, photography, and traveling. Kelsey works in healthcare administration and is currently in nursing school. When she's not working or studying, she enjoys spending time with their pets (Loki, Kismet, and Sirius), cooking, reading, and traveling.

Kris and I met during high school track and field. We have always been polar opposites of one another, but like opposing sides of magnets, we were drawn together. Kris has a way of mellowing out my high-strung nature and keeping me grounded to the here and now. And I like to think that I bring happiness and structure to Kris's life. We've been together (on-again, off-again) for going on 17 years. Being apart during our college years made us both aware of how much better we are together than apart.

I hate surprises, so I knew the proposal was coming, even though Kris tried to throw me off the trail. On the eve of our 15th anniversary, Kris took me to the Jupiter lighthouse. Kris is terrified of heights, so even if I hadn't have already known, I would have had a good inclination that something was up. We were escorted on a private tour up the steep and towering lighthouse. Kris slowly crawled his way to the top. When we reached the top, I walked around enjoying the beautiful sunset, while Kris clung to its walls for dear life. When Kris dropped to one knee and held onto my hand, he also held on for dear life to the lighthouse's wall. Although I immediately forgot the beautiful things he had said, Kris's proposal meant all the more to me because he had stood up to his fears to give me an awe inspiring view for the moment.

I did not want a mined stone for my engagement ring (blame Leonardo DiCaprio). I had always envisioned something a little different. Kris researched an eco-friendly, lab-created company and designed a lab-created sapphire and recycled diamond engagement ring. He decided on sapphires because blue is both of our favorite color and because of how much I love the ocean.

The Spanish River Library was not originally our planned location. Kris and I had scoped out other locations and had fallen in love with the Tree Zoo in Deerfield Beach. Unfortunately, the park was closed due to hurricane damage, and we had to find a new location last minute. Between Jen, Kris, and I, we came up with a few contenders, but ended up going to the library. We will be getting married at the library and had not wanted to take more photos there, but the library has a small nature preserve right next to it that ended up being exactly what we were looking for.

Our wedding colors are ivory, burgundy, and gold. I walked into the mall one day and this dress was displayed, on sale...it was meant to be. Once Kris saw the dress I had planned on wearing, he coordinated his outfit and our dog's bow-tie to match.

I immediately felt a connection with Jen, our photographer. She has such a down to earth and fun demeanor. She made Kris and I instantly feel comfortable being in front of the camera (something neither of us enjoy). I also loved Jen's diverse background... working in finance, microbiology, and even being a part of the discovery of the oldest organism is so impressive! Jen's beautiful and detailed photos speak for themselves, but it's the vibrant woman behind the camera that really sells Flashy Mama!
