We knew of each other through the Deaf community but we never really talked until a friend’s birthday party. I remember thinking “Wow, I really like her!” The sparks were there, and I really wanted to kiss her. One thing led to another, we just ended up kissing non-stop all night.

Jodie and Hasan were married at a relaxed nautical themed wedding at Norman Manorbier Castle in South Wales. The couple first met while playing in St John's Deaf football club. Jodie played for the women’s team and Hasan for the men’s. "It was on a football trip in 2004 to Stuttgart in Germany that we really noticed each other properly," said Jodie. "But nothing came of it till Hasan's house party after Christmas in 2007 when romance began to blossom."

Chrissy and Sam initially met through friends in 2014, but at the start it was a slow burn. They had no further contact until four months later when Sam found Chrissy on Facebook. He was about to be a groomsman for his friend and the night before the wedding he stayed up chatting on the phone all night with Chrissy, such that he overslept and was late for duty the next day. Since then they have been inseparable.

"I first clapped eyes on Tammy in Leeds nightclub SinCity in 2013," said Hayley, "She was surrounded by women. When she caught my eye my heart was beating fast, I loved her sparkly eyes and beautiful smile. I didn't think that I would have a chance. On our first holiday together to the USA I knew that I wanted her to be my wife and when we arrived at Miami Beach with it's beautiful views I knew that's where I wanted to propose to her.

We sat down with London-based photographer Becky Bailey who shared with us her love for her work and her family, her path to finding pride in her Deaf identity, and the misconceptions she has faced as a Deaf photographer working with hearing clients.
