A Fairytale Wedding in Vero Beach, FL: Samantha + Stephanie

A Fairytale Wedding in Vero Beach, FL: Samantha + Stephanie

We have always wanted a fairytale wedding. Our thing is Peter Pan, so when we found the venue in a secret garden with all these magical lights, we knew we had to stick with it and create our own fairytale in our very own secret garden under the stars. The venue was a total accident. I was looking up photographers and saw the venue as part of a styled shoot, and Sam fell in love. I like navy blue, and I’m not sure how we landed on blush, maroon, and gold, but it worked out very well for our fall wedding.

Real Couples // Two Grooms Commit to Forever at the Rialto Theatre: Michael + Nicholas

Nicholas and I met the way most twenty-somethings meet these days: social media! We went to separate high schools but were both in theatre programs. Through state festivals we met a mutual friend from yet another school and then became friends on Facebook through him. I was living near Daytona Beach, and Nicholas was living in Tampa. After years of being friends online, I decided to drive down and meet him in person. We had a super casual first date at a Red Robin in the mall and we immediately connected so well. I quickly found myself commuting to and from Tampa sometimes two or three times a week to be together. After three short months, we moved in together, and have been together since.

Real Couples // A Natural Engagement Session in Boca Raton: Kelsey + Kris

Kris and I met during high school track and field. We have always been polar opposites of one another, but like opposing sides of magnets, we were drawn together. Kris has a way of mellowing out my high-strung nature and keeping me grounded to the here and now. And I like to think that I bring happiness and structure to Kris's life. We've been together (on-again, off-again) for going on 17 years. Being apart during our college years made us both aware of how much better we are together than apart.

Michael and I met on Facebook actually! We met through a mutual friend while we was living in Daytona and I was living in Tampa. After years of being friends online, he decided to drive down and we had our first official date at a Red Robin in the mall near my apartment at the time. We connected so well that first meeting and began our relationship soon after.

Real Couples // A St. Augustine Wedding: Allie + Ywanarai

Real Couples // A St. Augustine Wedding: Allie + Ywanarai

Allie and Ywanarai had the most warm and loving Lightner Museum wedding. St. Augustine is always on my top favorite locations to photograph. There are so many hidden alleyways, cobblestone roads, palm trees, gorgeous stone buildings, and gorgeous natural backdrops. The two brides got ready in separate houses, down the street from one another, and did a really sweet and intimate first look. Ywanarai was so nervous as she could hear Allie walking down the steps, walking toward her. The look on Ywanarai's face when Allie turned around was priceless. She couldn't help but just grab her and hug her as soon as she saw her gorgeous bride.

The Queen Photographers // Photo of the Week: Effortless

I love photographing beautiful black women. It makes me happy to see the rise of their representation in the media. For this shot, I wanted to capture the subject's strong Jamaican features. She has a strong essence and personality, so the black and white allowed that to shine through. The image shows this woman's effortless strength and beauty. I think anyone can connect with this image's simplicity. It's raw, textured, and real.

Real Couples // Versace Elopement: Ethan + Ricky

It was actually really hard to write about our relationship without just saying I LOVE THE SHIT OUT OF HIM like a thousand times. (laughs)

I would love to say that we met in a bookstore on a crisp autumn day, but alas we met online—an anticlimactic beginning to the most fulfilling and deepest love of my life. I got to marry my best friend and the best person I know. He is the calm to my storm, the voice of reason to my extra-ness, and the smartest person I have ever met. We complement each other in so many ways — it’s almost hard to put into words. We just get each other and everything works. Our relationship is easy.

Woke Wednesday // Meet Florida Photographer Anesha Collins of Unashamed Imaging

Anesha: If you have a desire to start a business (whatever that may be), go and do it! Don't let anyone hold you back, not even yourself. Sometimes people don't believe in your entrepreneurial journey because it's too scary for them to understand, and that's okay — it's not meant for them to. Sometimes the journey will even scare you, but you have to keep going. You need to wake up everyday (even the days that you don't want to) and pursue your dream wholeheartedly. You don't have to make announcements; put in the work, and then show it. Let your work speak for you, and watch how evangelists of your brand follow suit. After you show it, go to the next thing. I always say that the current project or booking you're working on is what's booking you for the next thing, so always be on point, stay focused, and enjoy the journey.

Real Couples // Six Years Married in New Orleans: Victoria + Nathan

Nathan and I met in Pensacola, Florida in April 2010. I had recently got out of an interesting relationship and was not looking to start another one. I even told God that I did not want to get married. All of that changed when I met this hilarious, handsome man who asked our friend for my number right in front of me. After that night we dated for two months, and he told me one night that he was not dating me just to date me. I responded, "So you want to marry me?" With a surprised look he said, "Well yeah!"

Out of the Box Challenge // Featured Team: Jax Kicks Ass

The original idea behind team Jax Kicks Ass' shoot was a Peter Pan theme: a combination of whimsy, magical and urban. After a couple of last minute set backs and the unpredictable rainy weather on the shoot day, the team was forced to revamp and improvise with the tools each vendor was left with at their disposal. Fortunately, the clouds seemed to lend themselves to the candlelit, romantic warmth created inside this urban warehouse, which wound up creating the magical vibe the team intended for in the first place.

Real Couples // Fort Myers Florida Surprise Wedding: Katie + Ben

Katie and Ben opted to ditch the intense scrutiny and judgment of traditional wedding procedures by inviting their nearest and dearest to what the guests believed was, "An over-the-top engagement dinner." On January 24, 2015, a gorgeously sunny day in Southwest Florida, they hosted a dinner at the historic The Veranda in downtown Fort Myers, FL. Before the salads were served, Ben made a small welcome speech to all guests, one that announced they were all there for the couple's wedding. How's that for disrupting the traditional wedding narrative?
