Meet Kathryn Cooper Weddings
My goal is to capture your joy-filled, wonderfully unique wedding no matter where in the world—or HOW in the world—you're celebrating. As a photojournalist who fancies plenty of creativity mixed with emotional candids, I deliver photos that tell the story of your day, along with delightful, one-of-a-kind shots. My clients lean toward the nontraditional: Quirky, joyful, adventure-driven celebrations and photographs that make you look twice. And if you're not quite sure what you want to do for your wedding yet, I have dozens of ideas up my sleeve. Together, we'll brainstorm something that's absolutely magical.
I'm based in both New York and California, have traveled/worked in 70 different countries, and work across the U.S. and worldwide. When not photographing engagements, weddings, and elopements, I work as a travel and humanitarian photographer in remote parts of the globe, SCUBA dive, and backpack.
How does Kathryn approach weddings?
Vibrant, joyful, creative photojournalism is the best way to describe my style. My eye is drawn to real moments, laughter and expressions, and true-to-life colors. Most couples come to me feeling uncomfortable in front of the camera, and if that's you—I make sure you're not only at ease and having fun, but feeling like yourself (and having an incredible time!).
As a candid documentary photographer, I focus on incredible reactions, genuine emotions, and unique perspectives while also capturing creative portraits. Using my bag of photo tricks and innovation background—along with ideas we’ve brainstormed—we use our time on your wedding day to capture portraits that no one else would (or could!) have. Some of my clients even opt to do a creative adventure session or underwater session so that we have extra time for unique, adventure-driven shots. Others just want a kind photographer they can trust—and one who can capture all the moments of the day as it all unfolds. That's exactly what I do! No matter what, all of my couples get one-of-a-kind photos that capture their personalities, venue, and incredible moments.
What are some traits of your ideal clients?
My ideal clients are a bit different and quirky, and typically love travel and adventure. Capturing moments that match them and their personalities is what I do! My couples prioritize photography that captures moments in time and awesome memories over standard, everyone-does-this poses.
Most of all, having a fun, joyful, beautiful time is key--and I happen to be there to document it all.
What are three of your favorite things?
Hiking, SCUBA diving, and eating street food while traveling are three of my favorite things!
