Meet Magical Weddings by Carly
Carly has officiated hundreds of weddings in North Carolina over the past years. They started their business specifically to serve the needs of queer, trans, geeky, nerdy, neurodivergent folks, aka, people like Carly and all their friends! Carly offers license signings, elopements, weddings, and vow renewal ceremonies. They have experience with religious, secular, and interfaith marriers. The most important thing to them is that the folks getting married have exactly the kind of ceremony they want, whether long or short, heartfelt and serious or laugh out loud funny, small or gigantic.
How does Carly approach weddings?
Carly interviews clients either via email or zoom to get a sense of what they do and don't want in their ceremony and offers suggestions based on each clients needs. Every ceremony is put into a google doc so everyone is on the same page about exactly what is going to happen on their big day!
What are some traits of your ideal clients?
My ideal clients are most importantly joyously authentic to who they are and what they love, whether that's a wedding including all the family pets playing a part, an entirely Arrested Development themed wedding, or a simple quiet ceremony at home or in their garden. I find particular joy in marrying fellow queer and trans folks, those who include their pets in their ceremonies, or those who have a fun theme based on their favorite books, movies, and/or video games.
What’s your perfect day?
My perfect day includes spending lots of time cuddled up with my partner and my toy poodle Luna, listening to queer romance audiobooks and watching Bob's Burgers. Then out to dinner at my favorite vegan restaurant getting an over the top themed milkshake and burger and fries while playing Pokemon Go.
